Why do you sometimes use estimated meter readings?

Your meter is read by ESB Networks (electricity) and Gas Networks Ireland (gas) up to 4 times a year. We rely on your meter read submissions and estimated readings outside of these times to bill you. When we use estimates, they are based on a number of factors including your past readings, past usage, current usage and the time of year to ensure they’re as accurate as possible.

If you want to be sure you're only paying for the energy you use, it's important to submit regular meter readings.

Smart Meters - Electricity

If Interval (30 minute) Smart Services are available for your electricity meter, make sure it's configured so your usage can be logged remotely by your meter. If your meter has Non-Interval (Bi-Monthly) Smart Services enabled, it's still recommended that you submit regular meter readings.
