Is it compulsory to send your meter readings?

It’s not compulsory to send in meter readings, but your bills will be more accurate if you do.

Your electricity meter is read four times a year, so we use estimates to calculate your bill at times when we don't have actual meter readings. By submitting regular meter readings you can minimise these estimates and make sure you only pay for what you use.

If you can’t send in a meter reading, don’t worry - we’ll use the estimates when needed, and we'll update your account when we receive the quarterly readings from ESB Networks.
