SSE Airtricity is a leading energy supply and energy service company, empowering householders and businesses leaders on their journeys to net zero.
SSE Airtricity supplies over 460,000 electricity customers and almost 310,000 gas customers across the island of Ireland.
We energise homes with a market-leading range of dual-fuel, electricity and gas plans, designed around our customers' lifestyles and budgeting preferences. We recognise loyalty with SSE Reward, and we're building a flexible energy future, with innovations like our EnergiHub app to benefit the planet – and our customers' pockets.
We're also the power behind some of Ireland's brightest business successes. Many of the world’s biggest corporate names, mid-tier companies and local SMEs choose SSE Airtricity for fixed, flexible or hybrid and bespoke contracts; account support and our Business Online tool to help monitor and track energy use.
SSE Airtricity is much more than an energy supplier. We recognise that climate change is one of the greatest societal challenges of our time, and our mission is to empower and support our customers on their journeys towards a net-zero energy future.
Through our One Stop Shop and Generation Green Home Upgrades, we help householders reduce their carbon footprint by providing insulation, solar panels, batteries, heat pumps and smart EV charging solutions.
We’re partners in our business customers’ decarbonisation journeys, helping shape actionable strategies and roads maps through our energy audits. With our joint-venture partner Activ8 Solar Energies, we deliver solar PV installations and funded solar solutions. And we provide green corporate power purchase agreements linked to SSE's renewable energy assets across the island of Ireland.
Cleaner, greener energy is in SSE Airtricity’s DNA. As far back as the 1990s, Airtricity was pioneering commercial renewable energy development with a fleet of onshore wind farms and as a co-architect of Arklow Bank, Ireland’s first offshore wind energy development.
In 2008, Airtricity was bought by SSE, which, today, continues to harness our greatest natural resource.
Our sister company SSE Renewables operates some of the largest onshore wind farms on the island, including the 174MW Galway Wind Park in Connemara and the 73MW Slieve Kirk Wind Park outside Derry City.
Across the island, SSE Renewables wholly or partially owns 31 operational onshore wind farms (700MW) and is developing new onshore, offshore and utility-scale solar and battery storage projects to reduce carbon impact and strengthen home-grown energy security.
SSE Airtricity is committed to making things easier for our customers by delivering value, fairness, and transparency, while actively supporting the communities where they live and work. These core principles – alongside our commitment to sustainability, diversity, and inclusion – serve as our guiding compass, shaping who we are, how we operate and what we stand for.
Embodying this, our new €5m/£4.3m Generation Green Community Fund is designed to support communities across the island of Ireland, enhancing biodiversity, promoting cleaner and more efficient energy use and advancing sustainability-focused education and awareness.
We are also committed to helping those most at risk of energy poverty. We're a delivery partner for the SEAI Warmer Homes Scheme, we support EnergyCloud and we provide our technical and project management expertise pro bono, working with partners at the coalface, such as local authority social housing teams and the Bryson Charitable Group.
Whether it's sparking joy or championing causes, SSE Airtricity's sponsorship partnerships align with our values.
As principal sponsor of all three senior League of Ireland divisions, we promote diversity, inclusion and sustainability on the pitch – while supporting players' personal and professional development off-pitch.
Through our title sponsorship of the SSE Arena, Belfast, we thank SSE Reward members with exclusive benefits and 'money-can’t-buy' experiences.
We proudly stand beside LGBT Ireland and the Rainbow Project, championing inclusivity in all its forms.
Through the SSE Airtricity Energise Zone at W5 Belfast and the Eco-Explorers Club at Dublin Zoo, we help make learning about sustainability fun for tomorrow's educators and decision-makers.
SSE employs over 1,300 people on the island of Ireland – almost 900 working with SSE Airtricity. To deliver for our customers, we need a workforce as diverse as they are.
We know that reaching net zero will take nothing short of an energy revolution: we’ll need builders, electricians, installers, IT experts, communicators, customer support, accountants, engineers, designers and data analysts.
So, if you want a career that powers change, with flexible working conditions and excellent benefits, we invite you to join us in building a more sustainable and inclusive world for generations to come.
Under its Net Zero Acceleration Plan, SSE plc expects to invest over €900m/£875m in Ireland by 2027. In addition to SSE Airtricity, its other businesses interests in Ireland include
SSE Renewables – operating a 700MW fleet of onshore wind farms – and developing a pipeline of new projects across the island of Ireland
SSE Thermal – delivering flexibility through a 464 MW high-efficiency gas powered plant at Great Island – and developing 520 MW of new capacity through two biofuel-powered stations with the potential to convert to hydrogen
Source – a 50/50 joint venture with TotalEnergies, targeting 3,000 EV fast-charge-point installations in Ireland and the UK within five years
Together we provide a whole-system approach to energy, with SSE Airtricity at the customer face.
