Through the Generation Green Community Fund, we support projects that protect ecosystems, restore habitats, and empower communities to act.
Across Ireland, these initiatives are creating pollinator-friendly spaces, restoring vital habitats, and helping people live more sustainably and turning local action into lasting environmental impact.
Irish Bee Conservation Project
The Irish Bee Conservation Project helps communities protect pollinators and support biodiversity through outreach, education and practical action. The funded project will expand pollinator-friendly habitats across schools, parks and community spaces. It will also deliver practical workshops to build knowledge and confidence around biodiversity and pollinator protection.
Location: Cork and Munster region
Wild Earth
Wild Earth supports young people to connect with nature, build resilience, and feel confident in responding to climate change. Through the fund, Wild Earth will deliver 570 hours of free, nature-based sessions across Ireland: Tree planting, beach clean‑ups and biodiversity projects will help learners build resilience, reduce eco‑anxiety and turn concern into meaningful climate action.

Tograí Chléire
Through this funded project, Tograí Chléire is creating an Eco Hub on Cape Clear Island, featuring a pollinator-friendly garden, sustainable Eco Hub Shed and new solar panels to power an existing anaerobic biodigester. A community nature space with hands‑on food and sustainability learning will help communities take practical climate action every day.

ACT
With this funding, ACT is helping coastal communities protect and restore dunes at 17 sites across Ireland. The project will train 240 local participants and 15 trainers to use nature‑based solutions and citizen‑science monitoring to tackle erosion and build long‑term climate resilience. By supporting practical action now, the project will deliver long‑term environmental and social benefits.

Burrenbeo Trust
We’re supporting Burrenbeo Trust to deliver ‘The Hare’s Corner’ across six counties. By providing materials, guidance, training and tailored ‘Plans for Nature’ to landowners, around 1,500 biodiversity actions (such as mini‑woodlands, heritage orchards and wildlife ponds) will be enabled. With time, the work will improve habitats and encourage long‑term care for nature in the local area.

Síolta Chroí
An Irish social enterprise that teaches people how to grow food sustainably through education beginning at their learning centre in Monaghan. The fund is supporting Síolta Chroí to grow a community of local climate leaders through workshops, peer groups and action days. The project will support communities and farmers to build practical skills for sustainable living and regenerative agriculture.

Spraoi agus Spórt
Funds are supporting Spraoi agus Spórt to develop the Sustainable Roots Project in the Inishowen peninsula. The hub will combine practical sustainability actions (polytunnel, biodiversity projects, a preloved store and clothing swaps) with community learning, food growing, and low‑carbon travel supports. The project will strengthen food literacy and empower participants to grow, share and eat more sustainably.

Triax Social Economy Project
This Project is a community initiative supporting social and economic regeneration in Belfast’s Triax area. Funded by our Generation Green Community Fund, it will expand its allotment by 12 plots, offer more gardening classes, promote food growing and waste reduction, and supply produce to the local social supermarket. Participants will gain practical skills that support healthier choices, community resilience, and reduced waste.

Yola Hedge School
Transforming a neglected farm area into a vibrant wetland, this project will create a space for recreation, learning, and biodiversity. Yola Hedge School will build a thriving habitat: clearing debris, removing invasives, installing walkways and viewing platforms, and planting native species. Surrounding areas will be restored with wildflowers and grasses for long-term recovery, while on-site energy generating measures will reduce emissions and protect community services from rising costs.

Manor Fields Adare
This project is a community-owned recreation facility with a floodlit all-weather astro turf pitch. The SSE Airtricity Generation Green Community Fund with support this exciting project that will upgrade to LED floodlights, install rainwater harvesting, and create biodiversity ponds along a community walking trail. These practical improvements will cut emissions, boost biodiversity, and help keep the facility affordable and resilient year-round.
