Meter readings

I think I have a faulty meter - what should I do?

Faults rarely occur with meters, but if you think there might be a problem with your meter, there are some checks you can do.

  1. Check your consumption over a seven-day period: Take daily meter reads at the same time each day and check that the increase is consistent.
  2. Turn off everything electrical - Check your meter immediately after doing this, then check 30-60 minutes later to see if there is any difference. Next, turn everything back on one by one while checking your meter – this will help you identify if you have a faulty device or appliance.

If you have done these checks and your meter still appears to be faulty please contact our Customer Service team. There are some tests we can conduct, however a charge may apply if no fault can be found.
