What are standing charges?

Standing charges are fixed costs associated with providing your energy supply such as meter reading, maintenance and the cost of keeping you connected to the network. They also cover our operating costs associated with the supply of electricity for our discounted rate customers.

Standing charges are calculated daily and also include pass-through costs. They are charged by all energy suppliers but the amounts may vary.

Who pays standing charges?

If you have a Standard Meter you won’t have any standing charges, but if you will pay a standing charge if you have an Economy 7 meter

How much are they?

The easiest way to view all your charges is to check the ‘Details of Charges’ column on your bill – you can do this online through My SSE Airtricity. You can also look up your tariff online - each tariff page will have details of the relevant standing charges.
