On our bikes for the SSE Ireland Charity Cycle 2018

Over 30 employees from SSE Ireland have this morning set off on a gruelling cross-county cycling challenge, as they aim to raise over €30,000 for the company’s charity partner, Make-A-Wish Ireland.

Beginning at the firm’s headquarters in Leopardstown, Co. Dublin, the SSE Ireland Charity Cycle 2018 will take the team through seven counties, before finishing this Sunday at Galway Wind Park, Ireland’s largest wind farm.

With a journey covering almost 400km in just three days, the cyclists have been training hard for months ahead of this mammoth challenge. The event will see the SSE Ireland team rack up over 20 hours on the saddle as they traverse Ireland’s midlands on their way to the Connemara coast.

SSE Ireland team member and cycle organiser, Aaron Henry, said:

“We’re delighted to be taking on this challenge in aid of Make-A-Wish Ireland, which is a truly extraordinary charity. After months of preparation and anticipation, we’re excited to finally get the journey underway and put the training into practice. Hopefully the sun will make an appearance at some point over the three days too!”
