SSE Airtricity to reduce household energy costs for over 320,000 customers from 1 May

SSE Airtricity, Ireland’s largest supplier of 100%* green energy, will reduce its household energy prices saving dual fuel customers an average of €102† annually. These price cuts will come into effect from 1 May 2020.

The reductions being announced will see the company drop its home energy prices for new and existing customers by 11.5% for natural gas and by 2.7% for electricity. These reductions will mean a typical annual saving of €102† for customers on SSE Airtricity’s most popular Direct Debit and eBilling Dual Fuel standard tariffs.

David Manning, Director of Home Energy at SSE Airtricity, said: “I’m pleased today that we’re announcing price cuts on our natural gas and electricity standard rates. These reductions will help customers save around €102 on their annual energy costs.

†Typical annual saving equivalents based on a €23 annual decrease in the cost of electricity and a €79 annual decrease in the cost of gas. Reduction costs based on a household customer on 24hr SmartSaver Standard credit meter tariffs (Direct Debit with eBilling) inclusive of VAT and rounded to nearest euro. This will mean a typical annual bill of €1,052 for electricity (consumption of 4,200 kWh) and €786 for gas (consumption of 11,000 kWh).

Price change applies to 244,262 household electricity customers and 85,815 household gas customers, based on most recent Commission for the Regulation of Utilities ‘Electricity and Gas Retail Markets Report Q2 2019, published November 2019.
