- Donation is part of SSE Airtricity’s £21m suite of supports aimed at helping those in financial difficulty
- Fund will directly support up to 3,000 households in need across Northern Ireland
12 October 2022: SSE Airtricity has provided Bryson Charitable Group, one of the North’s leading support agencies, with a donation of £1,000,000 that aims to support households in need of financial assistance during the current cost of living crisis.
SSE Airtricity has partnered with Bryson as a trusted charity which has been providing invaluable assistance across communities in Northern Ireland for more than 100 years. The donation will be used to target practical supports toward people most in need over the coming months.
Bryson will deliver the support in the community and this will include urgent help with household essentials and living costs such as energy and foodstuffs; as well as energy efficiency measures, healthy living support alongside training & learning initiatives. It is estimated that the fund will benefit up to 3,000 households in extreme need of assistance.
The £1 million donation is part of SSE Airtricity’s ongoing customer affordability programme, which includes a range of measures designed to support customers, households and individuals who are experiencing significant challenges in dealing with the rising cost of living.
Klair Neenan, Managing Director of SSE Airtricity, said: SSE Airtricity is proud to partner with Bryson Charitable Group in Northern Ireland. We have great admiration for the incredible work that they do and we have worked hard together to ensure that this donation provides vital supports to households that need it most during a difficult period. We understand the pressure that households are under and how the current cost of living crisis is impacting on the most vulnerable members of our society. This is an extremely difficult time for many people, and we hope that this donation will help Bryson in providing support to those most in need.
This partnership is part of SSE Airtricity’s wider commitment to supporting our customers which includes previous donations to an all-island charity partner, a customer support fund and a price promise which is shielding tens of thousands of electricity customers from the latest impacts of rising wholesale energy costs. As always, we would encourage any of our customers who are facing difficulty to contact us, and we will work together with them to find a solution.”
Shane Logan, CEO of Bryson Charitable Group said: We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to SSE Airtricity for this generous donation that we will use to support those within our 60,000 strong network of individuals and families we know to be of most in need. The fund will be directed to those who require short-term emergency relief, alongside supporting those we are assisting on longer-term cause and effect programmes aimed at helping individuals move out of poverty and maximise their potential as individuals.
