New support for solar PV in Irish homes

Join the revolution with SSE Airtricity and Activ8

SSE Airtricity welcomes the new grant scheme for solar photovoltaic (solar PV) installations in Irish households, announced by Minister Denis Naughten and the SEAI today

As part of its growing energy services offering, SSE Airtricity last year announced an investment in Activ8 Solar Energies, one of Ireland’s leading installers of rooftop solar PV technology.

Since then, SSE Airtricity has been proud to work alongside Activ8 to deliver energy-efficiency and cost-saving benefits to customers, through the installation of innovative energy-generating solutions.

The new grant scheme, being administered by the SEAI, will support the installation of solar PV panels in Irish homes for the generation and self-consumption of renewable electricity. There will be additional grants available for those who choose to install battery storage technology to capture the electricity they generate for use at a later date.

Ciaran Marron, Chief Executive of Activ8 Solar Energies, said:

“At Activ8, we’re excited to bring solar PV technology to the mass market in Ireland, and the grant scheme announced today by Minister Naughten and the SEAI is a big step on that journey.

“Not only does solar PV have significant benefits for the customer, but at a national level, we’re just 12 years out from our 2030 renewable energy targets, and we believe it can play a major role in helping Ireland deliver on its low-carbon ambitions.”

Stephen Gallagher, Director of Business Energy at SSE Airtricity, said:

“We’re delighted to see the launch of the SEAI’s new grant scheme for solar PV and battery storage installations today, which is an exciting way for households to reap the benefits of renewable energy, and another important step in Ireland’s transition to a low-carbon future.

“At SSE Airtricity, we’ve been proud to work alongside one of Ireland’s leading installers of rooftop solar systems, since investing in Activ8 Solar Energies last year. With these new grants offering households a great opportunity to avail of solar PV technology, our partners in Activ8 are ready to cater for all needs, helping customers boost their energy efficiency, and ultimately save on their bills.”
