What happens next?

  • A member of our SSE Airtricity Energy Services Team will call to your home at the appointed time and take you through the Solar Thermal Installation process. We’ll then assess your home to find the best system to suit you and the total cost.
  • Once you’re happy, we’ll get to work - the installation will be completed in the one day with little or no disruption to your services. As part of this process, we’ll replace the cylinder in your hot press with a new higher capacity model.
  • Finally, we’ll complete a BER survey to ensure your new Solar Thermal Heating System is working efficiently
  • You can now relax and start enjoying all the benefits of your new Solar Thermal Heating System.

How it works

  1. Solar Collectors The collectors capture and absorb the sun’s radiation. This energy is then conducted by the fluid flowing through the collector.
  2. Controller & Pump The controller monitors the temperature differential between the cylinder and collector. The controller switches on the pump when the cylinder requests heat from the collector.

The pump circulates the heat from the collector through the pre-insulated flexible stainless steel pipes to the insulated cylinder.
  3. Tank, Coil and Taps The coil conducts the heat and the resulting hot water flows from the outlet valve for use throughout the home.
