How can I be sure I won't be double-billed?

What can I do?

  • You may already have Chrome, Firefox, or Internet Explorer installed on your computer. We recommend you use one of the browsers. If you don't have any of these, you can download them for free.
  • Talk to your company's IT department, which may be able to provide you with an alternative browser.

How can I be sure I won't be double-billed?

To prevent you from being double-billed, we will contact your old supplier to let them know you’re switching to us.

To ensure there is no overlap, i.e., that you're not charged twice for the same electricity, the meter reading that is used to calculate your final bill is the same that's used to open your new account with us. However, if you are switching both your electricity and gas accounts to us at the same time, please be aware that you may continue to receive bills from your previous supplier while you're waiting for gas to switch.

After you’ve signed up to us you will receive one final bill from your old supplier (or suppliers, if you are moving your gas account, too). This should arrive within 4 to 6 weeks, but it may take longer if you didn’t submit a meter reading when you signed up. 

Your first SSE Airtricity bill will arrive 2 to 4 weeks after this. If you continue to receive bills from your old supplier(s) past this point please contact our Customer Service team
