Do I have to pay a security deposit?

We ask all non-direct debit customers and all tenants to pay a security deposit. This is because you are billed in arrears i.e., for energy you’ve already used.

How much do I have to pay?

If you are a homeowner and choose to pay by cheque, you will be required to pay a security deposit. Your security deposit will automatically be credited in full if you switch to Direct Debit. Alternatively, your security deposit will automatically be credited to your account after 12 months of good payment history (which means payment received on time i.e. within the 14 day period starting from the date of your bill).

If you are a tenant, you will be required to pay a security deposit. Your security deposit will automatically be credited to your account after 12 months of good payment history (which means payment received on time i.e. within the 14 day period starting from the date of your bill).

When do I have to pay?

Your security deposit will be invoiced either before or with your first bill; this should be within 8 to 10 weeks from the date you signed up.
