Estimated Annual Bill (EAB)
Here is what you need to know:
The EAB is a simple and easy to understand indicator for customers to assist them in understanding and making decisions on tariffs offers. It is based on the CRU's (Commission for Regulation of Utilities) typical annual consumption figures outlined below which is an industry average for Electricity Urban Domestic 24hr Meters and Domestic Gas meters. Please note that your personal usage may vary.
The CRU have asked all suppliers to provide this information to customers when presenting a tariff for the purpose of marketing and advertising.
This is to make sure that all customers have the information they need to ensure they are on the best Gas and/or Electricity deal for them.
Current CRU Typical annual consumption values
- Electricity: 4,200kWh per annum
- Gas: 11,000kwh per annum
How is the EAB calculated?
The EAB uses the above consumption figures and applies this to the relevant energy unit rate. The EAB will also include:
- PSO Levy (for Electricity)
- Carbon Tax (for Gas)
- Standing Charges (both Electricity & Gas)
- Pay as you Go Charge (Pay as you go meters only)
- 9% VAT
The Estimated Annual Bill does not include any monetary value attributed: loyalty points, vouchers, cashback offers or add-ons (such as Boiler Services, Climote or other non-energy offers), so keep this in mind when making comparisons, to ensure you are getting the best energy deal for your home.
For example:
EAB Electricity = |

What if I don’t have an Urban 24hr meter?
We know this can be confusing so to make it easier we will show the most common meter codes on all our sales collateral. As way of example, for Day and Night meters the 4,200 kWh annual consumption values is equally split between each register. You can see a copy of this below.
