How do I cancel my direct debit?

You can cancel your direct debit at any time by contacting our Customer Service team on 1850 81 22 20 or by writing to us. We are open Monday to Friday from 8am to 8pm. These calls will be charged at Lo Call rates from any landline in the Republic of Ireland, calls made from mobile phones will cost more.

You may choose to contact your bank as well but this isn't necessary. However, if you cancel your direct debit with your bank without letting us know as well, we may request payment from your bank as normal and you will incur a charge from SSE Airtricity when your bank refuses the payment request

Remember, if you cancel your direct debit you will:

  • Lose your direct debit discount, and

  • Be required to pay a security deposit of €200 if you’re a homeowner, or have your security deposit increased to €300 if you’re renting



You don’t need to wait for your bill to start paying it. Make extra top-up payments at any time using any payment method you like.
