What is an MPRN and why do I need it?

Your Meter Point Reference Number (MPRN) is a unique identification number (11 digits long) assigned to the electricity meter on your premises. You can find your MPRN on any of your past bills. We need your MPRN to ensure we transfer the correct electricity point connected to your premises as quickly and smoothly as possible.

If you do not have a copy of any past bills, you can contact ESB Networks on 1850 372 757*  with the Reference Number and Serial Number displayed on the face of the meter, and ESB Networks will provide you with the MPRN for your electricity meter point on your premises.

What is a GPRN and why do I need it?

Your Gas Point Reference Number (GPRN) is a unique identification number (7 digits long) assigned to the gas meter on your premises. You can find your GPRN on any of your past bills. We need your GPRN to ensure we transfer the correct gas point connected to your premises as quickly and smoothly as possible.

If you do not have a copy of any past bills, you can contact Gas Networks Ireland on 1850 411 511* with the meter serial number displayed on the face of the meter and Gas Networks Ireland will provide you with the GPRN for your gas meter point on your premises.

Do I have to contact my current supplier?

No, we’ll let your current supplier know. We’ll contact you as soon as you have transferred to us. Around the same time you should receive your final bill from your current supplier. 

Will there be any disruption to my supply when I switch, or if the wind doesn't blow?

Switching is simple and hassle free. You don't have to make any changes to your premises. We use the same wires and meters - the only change is you'll be using cheaper, greener electricity.

Do I need a new meter/rewiring?

Switching is simple and hassle free. You don't have to make any changes to your premises. We use the same wires and meters - the only change is you'll be using cheaper, greener electricity. 

Can I switch if I rent the premises?

You don't have to own the premises to switch to SSE Airtricity. There is no rewiring and you don't need a new meter, the premises will not be affected.
