Moving premises
Information for landlords/letting agents
If new tenants are moving in:
If the account is currently in your name, it must be closed and any outstanding balance paid off. If your account is in credit when you close it, the credit will be refunded to you.
When closing your account, you should supply contact details for your new tenants. It’s important to let us know who is taking over the account or your rental property may be disconnected. Your tenants will have to contact us directly to set up an SSE Airtricity account. You can’t transfer the SSE Airtricity account for your rental property into your tenants’ names, for data protection reasons.
If your tenants are moving out:
They must close their account with us directly and you should take a meter reading on the day they move.
To transfer supply into your name:
If you don't have the name of the new tenant or if there is no tenant moving in, you'll need to transfer the supply into your name to avoid disconnection. This means you’ll have to open an account with us, if you don’t already have one.
To do this you’ll need:
- The MPRN for electricity / GPRN for gas (on the right hand corner of the bill)
- Meter reading from the day your tenants moved out (if your meter is not enabled with Interval (30 minute) Smart Services )
- The date you’re taking over the account
- Your bank details (direct debit only)
Note: If you choose not to pay by direct debit, you'll be asked to pay a security deposit of €500.
