With whom I am entering into a Lease agreement and PPA agreement?

You will be entering into a Lease agreement and PPA agreement with SSE Airtricity for this offer. If the terms of the agreements are not satisfied SSE Airtricity can terminate your Funded Solar Solution offering. Please refer to our Terms & Conditions page.

Why I am entering into a separate Lease agreement and PPA agreement?

The Lease agreement will need to be in place as the system will be owned by SSE Airtricity during the contract period while being installed at your business’ premise on the leased roof space or adjacent land. The Solar PPA agreement will need to be in place to cover the terms and conditions of the PPA payments for the use of electricity generated from the system.

What is the duration of the agreements?

The duration of the PPA agreement will be 10 years while the Lease agreement will be slightly greater than 10 years to cover the time taken for installation works of the solar PV system and will depend on project by project basis.

How will I be charged for the electricity used from the system?

SSE Airtricity will issue a monthly bill / invoice for the electricity generated & used* by your business from the solar system, at the agreed PPA rate (in €/kWh) plus any taxes, subject to terms and conditions under the agreements.

PPA Payment Amount: (Monthly consumption* of electricity generated by the system x agreed PPA rate (in €/kWh)) + Taxes as applicable

*Subject to minimum consumption threshold criteria.

What is the minimum consumption threshold criteria in the consumption of electricity generated by the system?

Minimum consumption threshold criteria is the minimum percentage of electricity your premise must consume from electricity generated by the installed solar PV system under this offering during the contract period. The system is designed by Acitv8 experts to consume nearly 100% of the electricity generated by the customer’s business on-site. But in certain scenarios, this consumption can reduce for reasons such as reduction in electrical demand at site. Thus, a minimum consumption threshold criterion will apply, subject to terms and conditions under the agreements, during the contract period. This means that the customer’s business will need to consume the agreed minimum consumption threshold of the electricity generated by the system.

What happens if my premise’s consumption from the electricity generated by the system is lower than the agreed minimum consumption threshold criteria?

If your premise’s consumption from the electricity generated by the system is lower than the agreed minimum consumption threshold criteria, then SSE Airtricity will include the difference between the actual consumption and the agreed minimum consumption threshold criteria in the monthly bill / invoice to be payable at the agreed PPA rate.

Can I carry forward the difference in my premise’s actual consumption and the agreed minimum consumption threshold criteria in the next billing period?

No, the difference in your premise’s actual consumption and the agreed minimum consumption threshold criteria cannot be carried forward into the next billing period. The difference will be accounted for during each billing period, subject to terms and conditions under the agreements.

When do my Funded Solar Solution payments start with SSE Airtricity?

Once the solar PV system installation & commissioning work is completed and the system is operational i.e. generating and supplying renewable electricity to your premise, SSE Airtricity will set-up the PPA payment schedule on SSE Airtricity’s billing system. Following which you will receive a welcome letter detailing the payment details along with the commencement and the end dates. SSE Airtricity will bill/invoice each month as agreed for the contract period.

How will I pay the PPA payments under this offer?

A line item stating your PPA payment for the month based on your monthly consumption from the electricity generated by the system, subject to minimum consumption threshold criteria, will be included in your SSE Airtricity standard monthly bill. This amount needs to be paid through Direct Debit.

What are the payment terms for my PPA Agreement?

You will have to pay the monthly Solar PPA payment within 14 days of the issue of the SSE Airtricity monthly bill/invoice, as per standard SSE Airtricity’s payment terms.

Can I purchase the solar PV system before the end of the contract period?

Yes, you have an option to purchase the solar PV system before the end of the contract period. To avail this option, you can showcase an interest with SSE Airtricity in purchasing the system out of contract. SSE Airtricity will provide you with the best quote of one-time single Option Payment to purchase the system out of contract. Upon your acceptance and payment of this one-time single Option Payment, the agreements will be terminated. The monthly PPA payment will discontinue to be issued to you from the termination date and the ownership of the system will be transferred to your business.

What happens if I fail to make a monthly PPA payment?

In the event that you have been issued with your SSE Airtricity monthly bill which includes the PPA payment, but you fail to make the payment on or before the due date, your account will progress through SSE Airtricity’s collection cycle and the relevant notices of non-payment will be issued to you. You can contact SSE Airtricity’s Customer Service team at 0818 81 21 44, to discuss a payment arrangement to address arrears before your next monthly bill is due.

If you fail to make the payment or fail to agree to pay the arrears with SSE Airtricity’s Credit Control team, SSE Airtricity will terminate the agreements with your business and a Termination Payment will be charged to your business. SSE Airtricity will issue you with the notice of termination along with the details of the outstanding balance including Termination Payment. At this point, SSE Airtricity will take legally every step possible  to recover any outstanding balance including Termination Payment.

What will be the Termination Payment?

The Termination Payment will be as defined in the agreements and will be considered on project by project basis.

Is my electricity and / or gas supply at risk of disconnection for non-payment of PPA payment?

No, Funded Solar Solution is an ancillary service and is not directly connected to your utility supply contract with SSE Airtricity and thus any non-payment of the PPA payment will not result in the disconnection of the supply. Please note that any non-payment may result in a negative impact of your current credit rating with SSE Airtricity which may affect the future services.

What happens when my agreements end?

When your PPA bill/invoice payments are paid in full until the end of the contract period, SSE Airtricity will send you a completion letter confirming that the payments have ended. The agreements will naturally end, and the ownership of the system will be transferred to your business at no cost. No further action is required from you.

Do I have to remain an SSE Airtricity supply customer for the duration of the Funded Solar Solution agreements?

No, if you are an existing customer of SSE Airtricity’s you can decide to switch supplier when you are out of supply contract with SSE Airtricity while still in an agreement. The monthly PPA bill/invoice will continue to be issued to you for the remainder of the contract period independent of the supply contract being in place or not.

What happens if I change my premise or no longer own the premise where the solar PV system is installed?

As per the agreements, if you change the premise or no longer own the premise, the agreements can be transferred to the new owner subject to the acceptance of both the new owner and SSE Airtricity, at SSE Airtricity’s discretion. If such transfer is not possible or doesn’t happen, then the agreement will terminate, and a Termination Payment will be charged and will need to be paid by your business.

I like to receive my bills in the post; can I still avail of this offer?

The method as to how you receive your supply bill will have no impact on your ability to avail of this offer.
